Frequently Asked Questions

What is classical homeopathy?

Classical homeopathy follows the original principles established by Samuel Hahnemann. It uses a single homeopathic remedy chosen to match the complete picture of a patient — their physical symptoms, emotional state, mental outlook, and individual characteristics. Rather than targeting a named disease, a classical homeopath seeks to understand the whole person and prescribe accordingly. Andrew Ward at London Homeopathy practises this form of homeopathy, as taught by Professor George Vithoulkas.

Did Andrew Ward practise homeopathy within the NHS?

Yes. For 14 years, Andrew worked within NHS primary care, where he was able to offer homeopathic treatment alongside conventional GP services. This gave him a unique insight into integrative medicine and deepened his understanding of patients who had not responded well to conventional treatment. He discusses this experience at length in Episode 196 of The Homeopathy Health Show.

What is the art of case-taking in homeopathy?

Case-taking is the process of deeply listening to a patient during a homeopathic consultation. Unlike a conventional medical appointment, a classical homeopathic consultation may last 60 to 90 minutes. The homeopath listens not just to physical symptoms but to how the patient experiences those symptoms — their sensations, when they worsen or improve, what upsets them emotionally, and how they relate to the world. This detailed picture is used to find the remedy that most closely matches the patient as a whole. Andrew covers this in detail in this podcast episode.
